First Appointment Information

The initial evaluation with Dr. Whitfield is 50 minutes in length and costs $250. He will collect medical history information and spend time getting to know you and your specific concerns. Dr. Whitfield will develop a treatment plan that may include psychotherapy and medication management. Because healthcare is a collaborative process, Dr. Whitfield will coordinate his care with your other providers.
Dr. Whitfield does not do the typical 15 minute "med-checks" that other psychiatric providers typically provide. All sessions with him are 45 to 50 minutes in length. He charges a flat-fee of $250 per session. He provides discounts to Veterans Affairs clients.
If medications are indicated, you will be required to attend follow-up appointments for medication management. Refills will not be authorized without an appointment.
Dr. Whitfield is an out of network provider. Please contact your insurance company if you need to verify your benefits. Payment is collected at the time of service. If you are canceling or rescheduling an appointment, we ask that you do so at least 24 hours in advance. If you are unable to cancel your appointment at least 24 hours in advance, then you will be charged for the visit at full cost.
Please bring any medications you are currently taking to your first appointment for Dr. Whitfield to review with you.
Cancellation Policy
Dr. Whitfield's private practice strives to offer optimum care to each patient, therefore we request at least 24 hours notice of an appointment cancellation. A fee of $250 will be charged for any no-show or late cancellation.
Patients must maintain a current active credit or debit card on file. This information will only be used for actual charges, which includes missed or late cancelled appointments.
A fee of $30 will be charged for all returned checks. The patient must agree to reimburse Dr. Whitfield's office for any collection and/or legal charges incurred as a result of a patient's failure to pay.
Patient Communication
Please notify Dr. Whitfield if there is any significant changes in your psychiatric or medical condition or if another provide changes your medication regimen. Please notify Dr. Whitfield if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant, as pregnancy will affect some treatments.
If you want to alter your medication regimen, please call first. Management of medications is a collaborative process, and changes without consulting Dr. Whitfield are potentially dangerous. If you are having side effects that preventing you from attending to daily tasks, please contact the office.
If you feel you are at risk of hurting yourself or others, please notify Dr. Whitfield immediately. If you need immediate attention, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
